We are committed to guaranteeing that our clientele will always have the opportunity to communicate directly with the craftsmen regarding surfboard design and construction.
After fruitful relationships with the likes of Cory Russell and Mark Phipps, 2006 saw the long anticipated launch of Tonik surfboards crafted by Simon Forward (aka 4D) at his state-of-the-art factory based in nearby Ocean Grove.
4D, a former Victorian junior surfing champion and well-traveled ripper, grew-up surfing the Mornington Peninsula and spending regular holidays in the Barwon Heads region.
Simon fell in love with the breaks along 13th Beach and since the year 2000 has permanently based himself on the Bellerine Peninsula, setting up shop in the Ocean Grove industrial estate.
Utilizing over a decade of hand-shaping experience and a lifetime of surfboard knowledge, Simon has successfully integrated high-tech machine-based shaping into our surfboard construction.
This allows for groundbreaking intricacy, attention to detail and replication that could never be possible employing the traditional hand-shaped style.
Personally testing each design (along with our staff and team), 4D is confident of producing world-class designs to suit all levels of surfers specifically for our local breaks along with those further afield.
We currently offer a fine tuned range of models to suit all people from “virgin-beginner” to “on-edge-ripper” through to “salty-sea-dog”, with1, 3 or 5 fins, Polyurethane or Epoxy, from 4 feet to 12 feet long and sprayed with any colors under the rainbow!
